2020 WRPA Annual Conference Update

Dear WRPA General Membership,

The WRPA Board, with reluctance, has voted to cancel this year’s annual WRPA Conference, which was scheduled to be held in Lander, September 21-23, 2020.  This decision was based on a variety of factors, including current pandemic conditions and unknown future conditions including vendor support, delegate attendance, and agency budgets.

We would still like to hold the Annual Business Meeting in September, via Zoom.  The time and date are to be determined.  By this meeting, the Board will have determined the location of the 2021 Annual Conference.  Also, at this meeting, the President-Elect will transition to the office of President, and the current President will transition to Past President.

In conjunction with canceling this year’s conference, the board also voted to not present Recognition Awards and Scholarships this year, and to not hold election of officers and board members.  Those officers and board members whose terms expire in 2020 will have their terms extended by one year, except the President, as noted above.

We recognize that this decision affects those who need CEU’s to maintain their professional certification.  We will make members aware of opportunities to earn CEU’s throughout the year, and encourage you to review the CEU courses on the NRPA website, at https://learning.nrpa.org/.

We know the next year will be challenging for all of our agencies.  Even though we will not be meeting in person this year, we hope to continue to support all of our members in the field of Parks and Recreation.
